Its F A Cup Time In Somerset!

Frome Town v Boreham Wood

by John Mead.

Its F A Cup time again this Saturday when Wood face an intriguing trip to Somerset to face Frome Town for the first time in their history. The winners would be just one game away from a place in the First Round Proper, a position that Wood have enjoyed in their last two seasons in the Competition.

The Robins have competed in the Evo Stick Southern League Premier Division for the last three seasons, after rising up through the ranks of Somerset League Football. Their highest ever finish was 12th and they currently occupy 21st spot, which is somewhat of a false economy given that eight of their twelve matches completed have been away from home!

Their recent home form shows a run of four straight wins in all competitions, including F A Cup victories against Wimbourne Town and Folland Sports. It did need a replay against the Wessex League Premier Division Sports, showing that this competition is a great leveller, as Wood duly found out against East Preston in the last round.

The Wood defence will be need to be aware of seven goal Ben Thomson at the superbly named Blindmans Brewery Stadium.

Local fans will be looking forward to the occasion and Wood fans are urged to travel and get behind the side. It promises to be a very interesting afternoon indeed!

F A Cup Third Qualifying Round. Saturday October 11th, kick off 3pm.

Blindmans Brewery Stadium, Berkley Road, Frome. BA11 2EH.
