After a manic bout of cup fever Wood can finally turn their thoughts back to the League with a trip to the South coast this weekend.

Our hosts The Sports have had a strange run of results lately . Like ourselves they limped out of the F A Trophy at the first hurdle suffering a 0-1 home defeat at the hands of Maidenhead United, a side they had beaten a week previous in the League fixture at the Priory Lane Stadium.

Prior to that home form had been topsy turvy to say the least. A 0-4 defeat at the hands of Dover Athletic preceded by a 5-2 thrashing of Farnborough!

The Sports do save their best form for home matches, losing just once all season. On the road they left the F A Cup at the hands of the radically improved Ebbsfleet United whilst more recently a 1-1 draw was recorded at Havant and Waterlooville.

This will be out first league fixture since the memorable 0-6 victory at Chelmsford City with Boss Ian Allinson keen to finally get a decent run together. The potential “After the Lord Mayors Show” syndrome nearly always raises its ugly head and the Gaffer is well aware of this. “ We gave it our all up at Carlisle and I am well aware of what can happen after such an occasion. It may be time to change the squad around a bit and give some of them a rest. One thing is for sure we need to start putting points on the board and climbing up to the end of the table where we firmly believe we belong.”
