Boreham Wood vs Bromley
Saturday 11th November 2023, 3.00pm

Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park, Vanarama National League

The Wood welcome Bromley tomorrow afternoon for our Remembrance Day fixture. Bromley come here in very good form and currently sit 3rd in the table. They started the season slowly failing to win in their opening 5 league games, however they then followed that up with 5 wins a row and have only lost once since their 2nd game which fell at the hands of league leaders, Chesterfield. They arrive on the back of a 2-0 defeat in the FA Cup top League One side, Blackpool.

Bromley– W-W-W-W-L

Prior to their FA defeat last Saturday Bromley had won their last four games. Starting in the FA Cup 4th QR where they went 3-0 up against Wealdstone in the first half and won the game 3-2. They then welcomed Oxford City to Hayes Lane, but the Ravens came away 3-1 winners thanks to a brace from Olomola and a last-minute goal from Dennis.

Bromley then welcomed Dorking Wanderers and after drawing 1-1 for 75 minutes of the 90, the game was decided by a last minute winner thanks to a brilliant long range strike from former Wood academy prospect, Corey Whitely. They backed up this win with an impressive victory away to Woking after an Elerewe goal prior to their FA Cup exit.

Whitely will be well known to many of the longer serving “Wood Army” as he came through the club’s renowned BW PASE Academy between 2007 and 2009. He went on a string of prolific spells in non-league with Waltham Forest, Cheshunt and most notably Enfield Town. After a spell at Dagenham & Redbridge, Ebbsfleet United came next, leading to a permanent move to Newport County. Corey made 10 appearances for the Welsh Club in 2019 but would spend the 2020/21 season with boyhood Club Boreham Wood, joining them on loan for the season in August 2020. Whitely then returned to Hayes Lane and went on to play a huge role in Bromley’s FA Trophy win, assisting Michael Cheek in the final. This season he has featured in every National League game and scored on four occasions.
