Its top versus bottom this Monday night at Meadow Park, when we welcome out visitors from Somerset. This is a game that Wood Boss Ian Allinson is not taking for granted.

“We will prepare for this game as well as for any other and in this League you never expect an easy game. Weston have had a great run in the F A Cup reaching the First Round and have the luxury of having their match called off on Saturday, whilst my players were producing a titanic effort to try and get past Gosport Borough.”

This will be The Seagulls first game since breaking their home attendance record in a 1-4 defeat to Doncaster Rovers, with just under 3000 fans packing into the Woodspring Stadium. That signalled the end of Manager Michael Bell’s tenure, given their poor run of results in the League

His side had lost their last six games, but with the distraction of the F A Cup now over, will be looking to put points on the board , with games in hand over the rest of the table.

We have met our visitors on eight occasions in the last four seasons, winning three and drawing one. The last time the two sides met was in December last year at Meadow Park. After a disappointing August 3-0 defeat in Somerset we played out a 1-1 draw on an uninspiring evening. Unbelievably that point took us out of the bottom three !

We have had some memorable matches with The Seagulls. Two seasons ago we came away from the Woodspring Park with a 2-4 victory after going two down inside seven minutes. Greg Morgan starred that day for us netting a brace, a fine victory against the side that recorded their highest ever finish that year, finishing 7th.

Another that springs to mind was our 6-3 home victory in our first ever season at this level. On that day we could not put a foot wrong, with Nicky Nicolau starring with a brace on his debut.

The Gaffer is looking for nothing less than three points to keep up the pressure at the top of the League and Wood fans are encouraged to turn out and witness the best side we have ever assembled in action!

Boreham Wood v Weston Super Mare. Monday November 24th , kick off 7.45pm.
