After a win in the FA Cup against Hendon last Saturday, its back to the bread and butter of the league this Saturday, when National League new boys North Ferriby United visit Meadow Park for the very first time.

Our opponents are starting to adapt to life in the National League after gaining promotion last season. It has very much been a mirror image of our first season at this level with United amassing just 10 points from their first 15 games.

United were rocked in the summer when their highly rated manager Billy Heath quit the club within a few weeks of promotion to the National League. The sort after manager jumped at the chance to move to FC Halifax Town after an approach was made taking much of his playing squad with him.

Steve Housham was given the task of keeping the villagers in the National League. His first task was to build a squad from scratch that would be good enough to keep the side in the league. It has certainly been a tough start but from previous experience Wood Gaffer Luke Garrard knows they will be no pushovers.

Dave Stephens is the gaffers only long term absentee, following the injury sustained on the opening day of the season. A few players who picked up knocks in the FA Cup win should all come through and be in contention come Saturday.

The gaffer will be wanting his players to continue the momentum they have picked up after 3 wins on the spin.

Saturday is also the clubs Community day fixture, so please do take a look on our website for the fantastic day the community department are putting on.
