Wood welcome The Beachboys for the first ever meeting between the two sides this coming Boxing Day, kick off 1pm. On this festive occasion “Little Saint Nick” will not be on the play list as Wood are more keen on having “ Fun Fun Fun “ .

There are three massive points at stake, so“ Wouldn’t It Be Nice” to come down and celebrate at the final whistle? Managed by Danny Cowley the Canvey Islanders have risen swiftly through the ranks to outgun their more famous eponymous near neighbours who have already enjoyed a spell in the Conference Premier. That Concord plied their trade in The Essex Senior League as recently as 2008 is testament to how well they have progressed.

This tie represents the second of back to back “six pointers” for Ian Allinson to negotiate, after beating Whitehawk last Saturday. That famous afternoon in the driving wind and rain has lifted us to within four points of Concord, who currently occupy 15th spot in the table. Rangers have had a very successful first season in The Skrill South recording three draws and two wins from their last six League outings included a 5-0 mauling of Farnborough on home soil.

Ian Allinson rates the visitors as , “ A very good side who are well organised and we will need to be at our best to climb up the table. I have told the players to treat every game as a Cup Final now and I look forward to their response.”

Concord made it through to the 1st Round Proper of the F A Trophy for the first time in their history after leading goalscorer Sam Higgins hit a brace to overcome Dulwich Hamlet in the previous round. Unfortunately they went on to lose at Gosport Borough who have become a real bogey side returning a week later to steal three points in the League.

Boreham Wood v Concord Rangers, Thursday December 26th, KICK OFF 1PM.

A Very Happy Christmas to all Boreham Wood fans and we look forward to seeing you all on Boxing Day …. The “ Whitehawk Six” are especially welcome!!
