Boreham Wood’s next game is against Thurrock F.C. at Meadow Park on Saturday 27 August 2011, Kick Off: 3.00pm.

Boreham Wood started the 2011/12 Season with two defeats, but they have drawn their two most recent games at Woking and at home to Basingstoke Town.    Meanwhile Thurrock have suffered three successive defeats following their 1 – 1 draw at newly promoted Salisbury City on the opening day of the new Season.

Thurrock can boast two very experienced strikers in their Line-up, namely Lee Boylan, a product of the West Ham United Academy, Lee has been a prolific striker at many Clubs.    He has played for England “C” and Republic of Ireland “Under 21s”.    Most known for his time with Canvey Island, where he scored over 150 goals.

He has also played for Grays Athletic, Cambridge United and Stevenage, and Rocky
Baptiste.    Rocky is a thirty-eight year old forward who has played for Hayes, Farnborough, Margate, Havant & Waterlooville and Harrow Borough.

He  played in the famous Havant & Waterlooville Cup tie at Liverpool, and signed for Thurrock in July 2011.    The Thurrock Squad also includes three ex-Wood players.    Midfielder Dean Cracknell, forward Jamie Richards and wing Forward Dee Okojie all had short spells at Boreham Wood.

Wood, meanwhile, are beginning to look a lot more confident in defence, with Elvijs Putnins in outstanding form in goal, whilst Charlie O’Loughlin and Luke Wilkinson are forming a good partnership at the centre of defence.

Team Captain Mario  Noto and new signing Daryl McMahon are playing well in midfield alongside Youth  Team product Pelly Ruddock, who has shown in the last couple of games that he  has a lot to offer at this level.    Wood have been short of goals in their opening four games, but David Bryant, Inih Effiong and Ollie Palmer will be looking to change that in the near future.

Saturday’s game promises to be another exciting and entertaining encounter and both teams will be hoping to record their first win of the Season.
