Sunday is Bath day!

by John Mead.

Wood travel to the behemoth Twerton Park this coming Sunday to attempt to enact revenge for an earlier 1-2 defeat against The Romans. With the home side seeing their Boxing Day “ derby” against Weston Super Mare fall foul of the weather it will be a tough second game inside 48 hours for Ian Allinson’s boys.

Bath City have had a real up and down season to date and are yet another side whose League position belies their potential. Currently 15th in the standings, they possess in David Pratt one of the top strikers at this level. He was the real driving force in their win at Meadow Park earlier in the season and has 11 league goals to his name already this campaign.

Their Jekyll and Hyde season can best be exemplified in their antics in the Cup competitions this year. They managed to produce the stand out results in both the F A Cup 4th Qualifying Round and the First Round Proper of the F A Trophy, for completely different reasons. Dumped out of the F A Cup 7-1 at East Thurrock United, they then produced an amazing 0-2 victory at Bristol Rovers, when they totally outplayed their giant local rivals in front of nearly 4000 fans!

Visiting Twerton Park is always a memorable experience, and with one eye on the weather Wood fans will relish a trip to one of Non League’s great stadia set in the League’s most beautiful and enchanting City.

Your support is very welcome, it promises to be another memorable day on the road!

Come On You Wood!
