This Tuesday, Wood return to the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park after successive cup away trips, returning to Vanarama National League action against Altrincham.

The Robins currently sit in 17th position and will be keen to build on their victory over King’s Lynn Town last time out; a result which ended a run of 13 games without a win.

Wood fell to defeat for the first time since mid-October against Wrexham in the FA Trophy, a run that spanned 17 matches in all competitions, and will be looking to bounce back to extend their unbeaten run in the league to 12 games.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

“THE DESTROYER”
TOBY MULLARKEY

A Crewe Alexandra Academy graduate, central defender Toby Mullarkey gained experience out on loan with Leek Town during a two-year scholarship before signing a one-year professional deal. He departed for Nantwich Town in 2017 and went on to play 88 times, scoring four goals from defence during his spell at the Weaver Stadium with his form attracting interest from teams in the Football League. Manager Phil Parkinson decided to go back to his former club to make Mullarkey his first signing as Altrincham manager and he has been a key part of the Robins’ rise to the National League.

“THE PLAYMAKER”
RYAN COLCLOUGH

Flying winger Ryan Colclough began his career in the Crewe Alexandra Academy and progressed through the youth teams to sign a two-year scholarship, making his professional debut at the start of 2012/13. He went on to play 68 times for the Railwaymen scoring 13 times, but departed for Wigan Athletic in 2016. He went on loan to MK Dons during 2016/17 and scored his first career hattrick during his time in Milton Keynes, being recalled by Wigan four months later. Two years at Scunthorpe United followed before his move to Altrincham in November 2020.

“THE FINISHER”
JORDAN HULME

Experienced striker Jordan Hulme is in his second spell at Moss Lane after returning to Altrincham on loan. After spells with Padiham and Ramsbottom United he joined Salford City but soon left for Altrincham, where he scored 31 goals in 54 appearances in his first season to be named Northern Premier League Player of the Season. He developed a reputation of being a skillful, energetic and aggressive forward, notching 70 goals in 139 appearances for Alty before joining AFC Fylde. With just seven appearances during 2020/21, he moved to Ashton United on loan before returning to Greater Manchester.

LAST TIME WE MET

Altrincham 1 – 1 Boreham Wood
Saturday 14th November 2021
Vanarama National League, J. Davidson Stadium

Wood arrived at the J. Davidson full of confidence, sitting top of the table following victory over Southend United in our previous league match two weeks earlier. Jamal Fyfield put the Wood 1-goal up on the hour mark, after he stepped out of defensive unit and drove at the Alty defence. An unorthodox one-two with captain Mark Ricketts saw the ball land at Fyfield’s feet 12-yards out and he coolly dispatched his effort by Thompson. Josh Hancock levelled for the hosts with 15 minutes remaining to set up a nervous last quarter of an hour for the Wood, but we remained resolute to take a point away from the J. Davidson Stadium.
