We are pleased to announce the signing of defender Jordon Thompson on a season-long loan from Coventry City.
The 20-year-old centre-back arrives at Meadow Park adding extra steel in the Wood’s back-line as well as giving gaffer Luke Garrard additional options throughout the campaign.
Thompson began his youth career at Queens Park Rangers before joining the Sky Blues in 2017 quickly signing a professional contract in March. Later that year he went on to make his first-team debut in a 2-1 EFL Trophy win over West Bromwich Albion U21’s.
Thompson has already had a brief taste of what the National League has to offer after having a short loan spell at Barrow where he featured nine times.
In the 2018/19 season he made eight appearances for Coventry, four of which coming in Sky Bet League One which shows that he is more than capable of competing at this level on a regular basis.
“I’m pleased to get the deal over the line” said Jordon.
“As soon as I knew there was interest, I bit at the chance to come down here. I’m at the age now where I just want to play men’s football week in week out, I’ve had a little taste so I already know what to expect.”
Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard said: “We are thankful to bring Jordon into the club.
“He’s athletic, competitive, handles the ball superbly, very powerful and adds to the group that we’ve already got.
“I remember his time at Barrow and he was impressive there, he’s settled in lovely already and I’m looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the squad moving forward.”
Welcome to the club, Jordon!
