Last Chance To See Wood At Home!
Boreham Wood v Sutton United Match Preview,
by John Mead.
This Bank Holiday Monday we entertain Sutton United in our final home game of the season.
The U’s have had an indifferent campaign by their standards, sitting 16th in the table at the time of writing.
At the start of the campaign we visited the then third favourites for the title, coming away with a 1-3 victory, courtesy of two injury time goals to ease home in a relatively close fought game.
Since then Sutton lost their talismanic Captain Charlie Clough to Forest Green Rovers in January. Initially it did them no harm picking up three wins and a draw in the second half of that month.
However they have just gone four games without scoring prior to Saturdays round of ties.
It is also worth mentioning that in all but one of their last seventeen games barring drawn matches, the end result has been decided by the odd goal, proving it will be as ever a very close game with our rivals from Surrey
There are big plans afoot at Gander Green Lane, with an application for a 3G pitch and a visionary cut price season ticket offer available to the first 1000 applicants for next season.
It is of course a must win game for Wood, in our push for promotion and it is hoped that a large crowd turn out, not only to cheer on the lads , but to honour the local Brookside Boys club who will be recipients of a £2000 cheque on the afternoon. More fund raising is also planned on the day.
With so much at stake it promises to be an emotional afternoon as we head towards an extremely exciting end to simply the best season ever in the history of Boreham Wood Football Club!
Please do come along and applaud the boys off the field to show your appreciation for a fantastic season.
Come On You Wood!
Boreham Wood v Sutton United.
Monday April 6th, kick off 3pm.
