FA CUP REPLAY

After this evenings televised FA Cup draw, Boreham Wood Football Club will face the high flying Division Two league outfit Northampton Town but only if we are successful in beating Northwich Victoria in our 1st round replay next Monday evening..

Nicknamed ‘The Cobblers’, the Northamptonshire based club are presently experiencing troubled times financially off the pitch, with a proposed winding up petition being heard in court as early as next week..

It is well documented in the press that their players are at present being paid by the PFA and as such the draw against either Northwich or ourselves, will be seen as a possible financial saviour and a potential cash cow to Northampton Town.

On the pitch though their players are still performing admirably, as was clearly evidenced last Saturday, with an against the odds on the road FA Cup win at Coventry City, who ply their trade in the division above..

The Northampton supporters we are told were incredible on the day and took over 2,500 fans, who sang their hearts out and played a massive part in their famous 2-1 victory at the Ricoh arena..

As always wins like this show that the heartbeat of any the club are their fans and as Coventry City can now testify ‘The Cobblers’ fan base is beating as strong as ever..

Before we can begin to even think about Northampton Town though. We firstly have a number of league fixtures to overcome and of course a very difficult FA Cup replay next Monday night against a very talented and hard working Northwich Victoria team.

We urge our supporters not to sit at home but to get into the FA Cup spirit and help us overcome Northwich Victoria..

We really do need you to firstly spread the word about the replay and then we need you, to turn up at Meadow Park in your numbers and make it a real Cup night to remember..
