After the dust settled down after the euphoria of Tuesday night’s fantastic 5-0 win against Sutton, one boy had particular reason to come to training on Thursday with a huge smile on his face to go alongside the black eye he earn`t during the win.

Academy and England Captain Ben Goodliffe made his full first team debut in the victory, he came to training with an extra spring in his step and showed just why the Academy staff feel they have at their disposal the most promising crop of players in many years.

Goodliffe who took to first team football like a duck to water and vindicated first team manager Luke Garrards decision to throw the 17 year old into the most important fixture in the woods season.

He joined the club as a 16 year old, he had just been released from Tottenham and found himself at home within the woods academy and has grown in his time here into the Academy captain, England Captain and now pushing to become a regular in Garrards starting eleven.

With six players now on first team contracts and three England internationals the future is bright for the club.

The woods academy plays Kidderminster Harriers on Wednesday 15th February PM KO at Meadow Park in the Quarter Final of the National Cup, come down and support the next generation in action.

If you feel our Academy, could be for you. If you think you could be the next Boreham Wood player to progress. Then the Academy are currently taking calls and enquiries for our next trial at Boreham Wood Football Club on Tuesday 14th February 9:30AM Registration, see Academy trial information to book your place or contact the office on 0208 9535716 for more information.
