Royston Town v Boreham Wood
Tuesday 10th December 2019, 7.45pm
Garden Walk, Herts Senior Cup

Tonight, Wood make the first of their two away trips to Garden Walk in a single week, as the two teams meet in the Herts Senior Cup before Saturday’s eagerly anticipated FA Trophy First Round Proper match up between the two Hertfordshire outfits.

Boreham Wood came away with all three points in our previous fixture as we won 2-0 against Dover Athletic away from home in the Vanarama National League.

Whereas, Royston Town ran out 4-1 winners at home against Peterborough Sports, which saw their unbeaten run extended to five in all competitions.

THE CONTEXT

Boreham Wood made it unbeaten in seven league matches on Saturday after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Dover Athletic.

Wood opened the scoring on the 33rd minute after PASE Academy graduate Sorba Thomas converted from the penalty spot.

Justin Shaibu carried on his fine form and put the game to bed in the 59th minute after he found himself in the right place in the right time and made it 2-0.

ROYSTON TOWN RECENT FORM

Royston currently play their football in the Southern Premier Central Division and sit a respectable 6th place, just outside the playoff with an inferior goal difference to 5th placed Coalville Town.

The home side come into this fixture with spirits high and plenty of hope after their emphatic 4-1 victory at home on Saturday against Peterborough Sports.

Beyond Saturday’s result, Royston’s form has been extremely impressive too, having lost just once in 11 games, including beating National League South leaders Wealdstone away from home 3-1 in the FA Trophy.

Royston are just four points off Banbury United who sit 2nd in the league with 2 games in hand so will be hoping to leap frog them in the upcoming weeks, as they mount a challenge to secure promotion to the National League South this season.

ROYSTON TOWN PLAYER TO WATCH

Adam Murray

Adam Murray is typically known as a centre half, however he started up-front for the Crows on Saturday and scored twice to help his side win 4-1.

Murray received Manager’s Player and Player’s Player of the Year Awards last season and attracted a lot of attention from National League clubs, most notably Kettering Town of the National League North, but stayed loyal as he hopes to get to the top with Royston.
