Boreham Wood football Club are delighted to announce that our long serving groundsman Daniel Hunter, has once again received a deserved nomination for his outstanding work from the Football Association.

Daniel will now be entered into 2012/13 Groundsman of the Year Awards, that are judged by the top premiership groundsman and the winners will be announced at a later date.

The club can only agree with the FA’s nomination and believes it is a well earnt reward for the many hours of unseen hard work and dedication that Daniel puts into his craft. Not only does he produce a pitch and surface to a high standard but a stadium that gives all supporters a comfortable match experience.

Our manager, players and supporters are all very appreciative of his work as it importantly gives a true and consistent surface to play on and allows the players a chance to get the ball down and try and produce great football.

Daniel has over the last few years needed to develop a year round pitch maintenance programme, that includes vertidrains, weed and feeds, extensive spring renovations, scarifying, multi drill seeding, levelling and a year round pitch nutrient feed system, to cope with the advent of WSL Summer football.

That planning and attention to detail, plus the thousands of man hours he puts in through rain, wind, snow and droughts. Enables the pitch to improve and prosper. He also looks after our all conquering Arsenal Ladies, who also play their Women’s super league games at Meadow Park from March to October, while each year competing in the Ladies European Champions league and their Domestic cup competitions.
