We are filled with sadness today at the news of the passing of one of our former player Michael Thalassitis, at just 26 years of age.
Michael played over 30 times for Boreham Wood scoring 12 goals, between 2012 and 2013, after initially joining us on loan from Stevenage, before signing on a permanent basis.
Michael also played for Ebbsfleet, Cambridge United, Margate and St Albans City, amongst other clubs and represented Cyprus at youth and U21 level.Wood Chairman
Danny Hunter said: “He was a lovely lad and I have fond memories of his time with us. He was a very talented young player, who perhaps got torn between his football and his tv work.
“I loved the fact that his father never missed a game, that Michael with his good looks could be a bit of a rascal and that he lived life to the full, and let’s be honest the girls loved him. It really is so very, very sad, but Michael crammed an awful lot into his young life, perhaps more than most of us will ever do and I can only offer my sincerest condolences and prayers to his family, friends and loved ones.”
The 26-year-old went on to enjoy a successful reality television career and starred in both Love Island and Celebs Go Dating.
Rest in peace Michael. You will be greatly missed.
