Boreham Wood are delighted to announce that Manager Luke Garrard has been named as the Vanarama National League Manager of the Month.
Garrard’s side have been unbeaten throughout November, which included an impressive 4-0 demolition of Maidstone United, away from home.
November has seen the Wood climb into the playoffs, as they sit in seventh place, going into their FA Cup Second Round tie away to Coventry City.
It was a 2-1 win over Woking at Meadow Park, that lifted the side into the playoffs, with goals from Tom Champion and Bruno Andrade.
Woking’s goal at Meadow Park, has been the only League goal conceded throughout November, with impressive draws over both Hartlepool United and Macclesfield.
Outside of the National League in November, Garrard and his side came from behind to beat a Football League side for the first time in their 70-year history. A 2-1 victory over former FA Cup winners Blackpool, in the Second Round.
Having collected the award, the elated 32-year-old, praised the whole club: “It is management team of the month, squad of the month, whole club of the month. I think that everyone, from ground staff to the day staff, my backroom staff, myself and the team, deserve that Manager of the Month award.
“I felt that, to go away to Maidstone, and Macclesfield between Hartlepool and Woking, was huge accolade to where we are, at this football club at the minute.
“I feel that eight points out of four games, when you put Hartlepool in that, and Woking, sides in the top seven, prior to playing them, was an achievement.
“I was over the moon with the response from the players, after the Blackpool game, because you hit the heights of Blackpool, you beat them 2-1 in the 87th minute, and you are waiting for maybe a little lull, or a reaction, that you don’t really want. Because, they think, ahh we are playing Hartlepool now, or Maidstone, or Macclesfield as such, but that wasn’t the case.
“I have got to give full credit to the squad, because to take eight points out of those four games has been very pleasing.”
