Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of striker Morgan Ferrier. Morgan who has been a free agent since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the 2014/15 season, signs just two days before the new season starts and is expected to go straight into our squad for this Saturday’s opening league game against Forest Green Rovers..
Ferrier despite still only being 21, is well travelled having been at the Arsenal, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Watford’s Academy structures.. Morgan now though needs to draw a line in the sand and begin to show everyone his undoubted ability and bring a consistency onto the pitch..
After leaving Palace a year ago, the pacey forward has kept active at National League South side Bishops Stortford, where he made 16 starts for the Hertfordshire outfit scoring 5 times before moving onto Play off chasing Hemel Hempstead Town.
Ferrier who was invited to join Woods pre season camp by gaffer Luke Garrard at the beginning of July, Impressed enough in three friendly games to be offered a deal, Which was declined, however after trials at Peterborough, Swindon and Stevenage he has now signed on the dotted line and featured in today’s training session..
Wood gaffer Luke Garrard was delighted to welcome Ferrier back into the squad and said “Morgan has the ability but it’s nowhere near being realised yet. He needs to get his head down and understand the importance of being a team player and being consistent both on the training pitch and then taking that knowledge and endeavour into games”..
“We’ll help him all we can but its ultimately the players responsibility to be a good member of the group and to remain focused. The real benchmark for me, will be if he ends the seasons still here at Boreham Wood and if his stats show everyone that he’s now appeared in 40 plus games at National League level and if he has a goal ratio of 1 in 3 at just 22 years of age he’ll get his move”..
” That’s the target I’ll set him and If he’s gets that in his locker and we can improve both his hold up play and his awareness, then he’ll get his move into the pro’s and we would all of played our part. If he does not remain focused he will like so many others, be just another player looking for a club, who was once at Arsenal or Palace as a kid and there’s loads of them about”.. Garrard concluded
