It is with deep regret that Boreham Wood Football Club has learnt that Dick Clarke, Brookside Boys Clubs legendary stalwart has passed away.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “Dick’s passing has really stunned me, he had not been well in recent months but was like the ‘Duracell Bunny’, you just felt he would go on forever. I met with him and his wife Vera not long ago to discuss some fundraising ideas for the boys club. He was an amazing character, who had a wicked sense of humour and his public service to this town and the boys club was simply incredible”.

The Chairman concluded “So many of the lads who used the boys club when growing up in my era, loved Dick, loved Vera and loved the boys club, it was in truth like a second home. Words seem a little hollow at present but on behalf of myself, the football club, our staff, players and supporters, we would just like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to Vera and the whole Clarke family.
