Boreham Wood Football Club and our education providers, Barnet and Southgate College, are delighted to announce after two phases of the three phase trial process, that chooses the England College National Football Team, that we have had three of players chosen for the England College squad.

They are our first team squad players in defender Ben Goodliffe, and winger Sorba Thomas. Plus academy goalkeeper Fred Burbidge. All three have made it through to the final squad of 18, which represents England in various games and finishes with a tournament in Italy next summer, against a host of other internationial sides.

The first trial phase was made up of around 120 players from up and down the country. And was set in three regions, north, south and one in the midlands. If successful then the players progressed onto Phase two, which was held at Nottingham Forests Academy training ground last Sunday.

After that the process became even tighter, as the numbers were slashed down to 40 players, who were all of a very high standard. The boys were then put into two squads and went straight into a game with all the England coaches there to over see it.

For the boys to come through such a process successfully makes the club and college very proud of their achievements, and with all 3, still being part of the under 18s side who have made it through to the 2nd round of the FA youth cup by beating Northampton Town, it shows why the Woods PASE Academy is held in such high esteem at this level and around the country.

We would like to congratulate the boys and wish them the very best of luck in there England experience.

Anyone wishing to see our youngsters in action, please know your welcome to come down and see the boys play, in in the 2nd Round of the Youth Cup against Broxboune Borough tonight 7:30 KO.

The winners of this game would then advance into the last 64 teams in the competition for the first time, and if successful, would meet either Chester or Bolton Wanderers at home.
