The newly refurbished East Stand, with its smart new black and white seating, will finally be fully opened to home fans for the first time this season for the visit of Southend United on Saturday.

Wood, the National League’s perennial underdogs, have started the season brightly and presently occupy a more than deserved play off berth, whilst having secured a place in the 1st Round Proper of the FA Cup after beating local rivals Barnet 1-0 at the Hive just ten days ago in the 4th qualifying round.

As such, the club are more than hopeful that it will attract its biggest home gate of the season, especially having already sold 700 tickets. With 800 to 1,000 Shrimpers fans expected to make the short trip from Southend to the LV Stadium Meadow Park, for the first ever league encounter between the two clubs, it should be a great afternoon.

Supporters of both clubs are respectfully reminded that there will be a minute’s applause prior to kick off to celebrate the life of slain Southend MP Sir David Amess, MP who served his beloved Southend, Parliament and the wider public with such distinction for so many years.
