With the Arsenal XI friendly now under a week away, Boreham Wood are pleased to announce further details of the community initiates that will be taking place on the day.
The event plans to be a family-filled day of fun, the flagship of which will be the grand opening of the club’s Premier League standard, million pound Desso pitch and surrounding features.
The cutting of the ribbon is expected to be done by Mr Arsene Wenger and Mr Ivan Gazidis, who we hope to be present on Thursday to enjoy a great evening of football.
The famous FA Cup trophy will also be on display at Meadow Park in celebration of the two-club’s recent ten-year contract extension.
Children aged between five-to-twelve-years-old can also sign up for a free football coaching sessions on the new training 5G Astro facility, this will take place between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, registration begins at 5pm. Any participants in this training session will be given free admission into the game.
The clubs are also offering participants from all of the community sessions over the next week the chance to enter a raffle that will see them win pair of Arsenal Emirates Cup tickets.
The fixture will also see the 500-lux floodlights turned on for the first time and the new Premier League style dugouts will be used by Luke Garrard and his men.
There will be a flagged guard of honour for the players, with the flags being held by our local Mencap and learning disability groups. As well as chosen mascots from our local schools.
The famous Gunnersaurus will also be at the fixture ready for any and all meet-and-greet opportunities with both Wood and Arsenal supporters.
