Chelmsford City roll into Meadow Park for this coming Bank Holiday Monday’s entertainment, kick off 3.00pm.

Glenn Pennyfather’s side are always mentioned Pre -Season as Play-off favourites and this Season is no exception.    At the time of writing they have recorded one draw and one defeat.    Having had all three points snatched from them down at Havant & Waterlooville, when ex-Wood forward Ollie Palmer levelled with the very last kick of the game, they hosted Welling United at The Melbourne Stadium on Monday night. The visitors ran out 2 – 3 winners and judging from reports are as strong as ever, even after losing star players Loick Pires and Jack Parkinson to Woking during the close Season.

That said City were without five first team players through injury and will be looking to repeat last Season’s 1 – 3 victory here at Meadow Park to kick start their campaign.    Wood meanwhile are in fine shape, taking four points from a possible six and there is a real belief around the Club that this Season’s Squad is the best we have seen for some time.    With just Mario Noto unavailable through injury, Ian has the benefit of nearly a full Squad to call upon.

This coming Saturday there is the small matter of the trip to The Kingfield Stadium, Woking,  to face last Season’s relegated nomads Hayes & Yeading United.    They sit level with Wood on four points and their Manager Nas Bashir has retained most of his side from last Season, with some juicy new recruits.    Sam Cox joined the side, soon to be playing football back at The Warren, after his hugely successful Loan spell with us last Season. Their main threat is undoubtedly another coup for Bashir in the shape of Kudus Oyenuga who did his schooling at Arsenal no less.    The forward has hit three goals in the first two games of the Season and will be looking to increase his value against the solid Wood defence.    Kick off at The Kingfield this Saturday is at 3.00pm.

To contribute to a great Bank Holiday atmosphere get down to Meadow Park this Monday and cheer on The Wood!
