It must be remembered that all the services provided by Cherry Lodge are provided free of charge.
The annual organiser of the event John Murphy, who is the Director of Finchpalm Ltd explained, “Many of us have been personally affected by cancer and as we all know it does not discriminate.. So it was important for us to do something to help and support the wonderful work carried out at Cherry Lodge. It is my hope that as many people as possible will turn out in force to support what we hope will be a great family event.. While I must also thank all my friends, colleagues and customers for their enthusiasm in always supporting this incredibly worthwhile fundraiser”.
Sandy Naughten, the Fundraising co-ordinator at Cherry Lodge said when learning of this charity match, “When we heard of John and Spurs efforts, it meant a great deal to everyone here. We are immensely grateful to John and all the other organisers and contributors for their support. We receive virtually no public funding, and events such as these are absolutely essential as they effectively ensure we can continue offering vital services to those affected by cancer”..
John continued, “Cancer may well be one of the hardest fights any of us may ever have to face. The uncertainties, fears and feelings of isolation so many people experience, make it an even tougher challenge. Cherry Lodge is there to help and support people every step of the way and It is a small independent charity, working hand in hand with peoples’ hospital treatment, offering centre based-based nursing advice and information, relaxing complementary therapies, counselling and gentle exercise classes”.
“A special thank you is also extended to Danny Hunter and everyone at Boreham Wood Football Club for ensuring the match, auction and raffle is even possible. The club have donated much of their facilities, time and staff free of charge, with Danny paying other related costs personally and he has our gratitude”..
So the message from us all is a very simple one.. Cancer does not discriminate and we need every Spurs, Arsenal and footy fans help to turn up and support this event. We really do need all North London, the home counties and local people who’ve suffered or knows of someone who suffered to turn up and make a difference..
In truth we need as many people as possible to make this a success, so please do your best to come along on Friday, 22nd July 2016 and really make that difference. Bring the family, bring your friends and enjoy what is sure to be a wonderful football match, fantastic night out and all for such a wonderful cause..
