Boreham Wood Football Club Chairman Danny Hunter is absolutely delighted to announce that he has yet again agreed another extension with our main sponsors Barnet and Southgate College.

The partnership between Barnet and Southgate College and the football club has been running for many years and together, the partnership has created one of the largest, most successful and diverse sports and education programmes in the country.

Since the forming of this unique partnership, both the College and the Football club have provided thousands of teenagers with both the educational and footballing opportunities, that we feel, they would struggle to find anywhere else.

Whether it’s getting one of the many talented footballers – like Lee Hodson at Glasgow Rangers, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu at Luton Town, or Ben Goodliffe now at Premier League newcomers Wolves – into the pro ranks, our partnership prides itself on the care that everyone in our education sports structure gets.

That is factually shown by the 95% average retention rates we’ve produced over the last 10 years and by the 94% success rates that have been achieved on our courses and A level curriculums – those success numbers enable our students to head off to University, into the workplace or onto full scholarships in both England and America with confidence and self-esteem.

This year, a record breaking five of our students were chosen to represent England Colleges, which is another hugely prestigious honour for both our football club, the student and Barnet and Southgate College, while retaining and becoming National Cup Champions yet again.

Chairman Danny Hunter said: “The College, the Principal David Byrne and the director of employer partnerships Tracey McIntosh, have always been incredibly supportive of the work that myself, our staff, our coaches, and our football academy do and it shows in their outlook and in their staff’s outlook…

“They are in truth, so supportive and were right behind us on our amazing journey all the way to Wembley, in the National League Promotion Final last season. As our principal sponsors, Barnet & Southgate are simply amazing collaborators and though they of course receive all of the usual benefits that come with sponsoring a club that sits at the top table of the non-league game – our partnership in truth goes way beyond that…

“Our partnership is always future driven and long term, and as such, this sponsorship will run until the end of the 2021 season. But this new deal again feels very special, it’s special because it goes way beyond shirt sponsorship, sponsorship of stadium boards, website recognition or the advertising within our match day programme.

“No, this sponsorship is special, because it displays all the traits that I hold dear with all our long-term partners. Traits like longevity, loyalty, honesty, progression and quiet ambition.

“As such, we will also announce another brand new huge education and sports contract/partnership between us, in a lot more detail on Friday evening when we have our annual pre-season supporter’s Q and A,” Hunter concluded.

Tracey McIntosh, Barnet and Southgate Director of Employer Partnerships, said: “As a college we recognise the great work the club does locally.

“As such, over the last seven years we have worked very closely with the club and their chairman Danny Hunter to help improve our understanding of local education needs and our established education/sports programmes. So, we’re delighted to remain as their Principle Sponsor and continue to help the club, their academy and the local community.”

On the continued partnership, Boreham Wood football club’s Commercial Manager Mandee Morris said: “We continue to see this amazing partnership flourish every year, in all areas of the football club and our community.

“Our Sports and Education programme is we feel unique, and it continues to grow each year. Last year 630 students received a first-class education from the college and a superbly structured football programme, complete with incredible facilities, and a coaching and medical team that’s second to none. So, the opportunities for our young student/scholars to progress really are endless.

“On the pitch as Principal Sponsors, Barnet and Southgate’s brand will once again be seen across the world, be seen nationally, and be recognised for its excellence, by both potential students and scholars up and down the country. That was perhaps best emphasised when we managed to fight against all the odds, for the right to play against Tranmere Rovers in the National League Promotion Final at Wembley.”
