Following a 3-4 victory over Sutton United, Arsenal’s Reserves are on the way to Meadow Park for our annual Pre Season Friendly this coming Saturday. Last season’s game was closer than some of recent years. The Gunners eventually ran out 1-3 winners, but were still trailing with eighteen minutes to go. Two of the scorers on the day Kristoffer Olsen and Chuba Akpom are currently on duty with the First Team on their tour of Asia. They both netted in a 7-0 win against the Indonesia Dream Team.

We have never beaten The Gunners but did record a 0-0 draw back in 2009. Our worst showing was a 1-7 defeat two seasons ago, in a month when the young Gunners put seven past Hastings, three past Woking and even beat First Division Stevenage! One player to look out for is the highly fancied Dan Crowley who has just signed from Aston Villa. He made his debut for the Gunners against Sutton and is remarkably just fifteen years old! Expect a feast of flowing football, with quick neat interchange passing, movement and precision as is the trademark throughout the whole Club structure at The Emirates.

With Wood moving towards full match fitness after the spring break and the emphasis on improved goals per game ratio Donovan Simmonds will be keen to add to his first goal for the club against Luton Town last Saturday.

Boreham Wood v Arsenal XI, Saturday July 20th, kick off 3pm.
