Yesterday, Boreham Wood Football Club’s Community Department held its annual Primary Schools Tournament, and we are delighted to announce it was a huge success.

SG1S0973The Tournament was sponsored by Papa John’s Pizza, who kindly gave food to all participating teams after the tournament. Boreham Wood FC’s Community Department would like to take this opportunity to thank Papa John’s for their generosity.

Schools from all over Hertsmere Borough come to battle it out for the crown of Hertsmere’s best footballing school. Our eventual victors were Summerswood in the Year 4/5 category, and St. Teresas in the Year 5/6 category.

SG1S1026The Tournament welcomed some brilliant young talent between the ages of 8-11 years old, showcasing their great skills and offering the crowd of teachers, parents and BWFC staff some exceptional goals.

However within the host of talent on display, BWFC coaches picked out Players of the Tournament from each category. Joshua Tozer of Oakmere Primary School was chosen as Player of the Tournament in the Year 5/6 category. He was instrumental in Oakmere reaching the final, and orchestrated much of Oakmere’s attacking prowess from the centre of midfield.

In the Year 4/5 category, Player of the Tournament was awarded to Batuhan Bastug of Summerswood Primary School. Batuhan’s goals were critical for Summerswood, who were the deserved winners of the Year 4/5 tournament, after going unbeaten all day conceding just one goal.
