“We will go on believing until it is mathematically impossible” declared Wood Boss Ian Allinson as he looks to pick up his players after three straight defeats.    “We will go to Basingstoke Town looking for a win to start a final run of decent results.    Ok we need others to slip up around us but I believe they will.    We have the advantage of having five games left and of course should we win them all it will make matters very interesting!”

Against Havant & Waterlooville Allinson went for experience including Cliff Akurang and Mario Noto in the starting line-up.    He will not have the luxury of Noto for the trip to Basingstoke Town however as he starts his four match ban.

The game promises to be a tight affair if past results are anything to go by.    In November we drew

1 – 1 at Meadow Park, when Town were in the bottom three, which was clearly a false position judging by their performance on the day.    The previous Season both games ended in 1 – 1 draws too, whereas in our first Season in this Division both games ended in 1 – 0 wins for the home sides.

Town are now sitting on forty-eight points in mid-table, thanks to the goal scoring prowess of Delano Sam-Yorke sixteen, Tim Sills thirteen and Manny Williams twelve.    Their recent run of just two defeats in ten games included one of the results of the Season a 0 – 5 victory at Dover Athletic, ending their eleven match unbeaten run in some style.    Both those defeats came at home and neither did us any favours whatsoever, a 1 – 3 defeat last Tuesday at the hands of Weston-super-Mare and a 0 – 3 reverse against Eastleigh on Good Friday!

Let us hope Wood can repeat the feats of our Play-off  rivals!

Basingstoke Town versus Boreham Wood – Saturday 13 April 2013, Kick Off 3.00pm.

The Camrose, Western Way, Basingstoke. RG22 6EZ.
