Wood Reserves remain top of the table after Saturdays convincing 3 – 0 beating of Tring Athletic. They now have a 12 point lead and can win the title with a victory at rivals Camberley this Saturday.

It was also a welcome return to the squad for many of the clubs 17 & 18 year olds, who had been playing and winning in two other recent cup competitions, they once again showed great maturity to seal the victory and close in on becoming champions.

In fact Woods U18 goal keeper Cameron Baker-Owers only had one shot to save in 90 minutes, which he dealt with superbly to deny the opposition their only real goal scoring opportunity.

However it was another of the Clubs U18s Connor Lancaster, who put Wood 1 up. He scored the openier after some excellent football down the left hand side which resulted in Tony Walker crossing the ball for Lancaster to meet at the back post for a simple tap in.

Now on cruise control, Wood created another chance that Simeon Akinola comfortably took. Then after more great football, which saw Ruddock Yala lift a pass over Trings last defender for Akinola to spin and do what he does best and slot the ball home, for his 29th Suburban goal of the season and take his goal tally to over 40 in all competitions.
