Jack VaseyBoreham Wood’s talented U/18’s travelled away on Thursday night, to a resilient and competetive Colney Heath side, who enjoyed home advantage for the final of the Brian Hitchins Cup.

After 90 minutes of absorbing cup football, the game still remained deadlocked 0-0 and so a further 30 minutes of extra time was required to separate the teams.

Finally it was young Wood’s youngsters who emerged victorious, scoring twice in the second period of extra time through Marcio Cruz and skipper Jack Vasey, to win the final 2-0 and deservedly complete another league and cup double.

I felt that home advantage could well play a part but though it was close game, we were always just about in control and thoroughly deserved our victory…”

“Our players, our coaches and our medical team, can now enjoy a well earned summer break, as they have all worked so hard for each other this season. As a club we have tried to improve throughout the year and that hard work has been rewarded. That can be seen by our u/18’s winning a league and cup double, by three players being chosen for England Colleges and by our u/19’s reaching the National College Cup semi final once again. The groundwork is still being laid at present and will I hope be a platform for even more club and player success in the future” Garrard concluded…
