Arsenal Football Club and their coach supplier Ellisons, have for the third year running agreed to give the Arsenal First Team Coach to Boreham Wood Football Club as part of ‘Non League Day’, which this year falls on Saturday 6th September..
The idea of ‘Non League Day’ is to raise awareness for grassroots football and by doing that it’s hoped to encourage both Professional clubs and their supporters, to get involved with their local non league club in any way possible going forward.
Each year the date changes, as ‘Non League Day’ has to fit in with a weekend when both the Premier League and Championship shut down for an England international fixture. This season the fixture list for the third year running has again given Boreham Wood an away fixture, this time at Gosport Borough.
With Arsenal Ladies, Arsenals Development games and Arsenals U/19’s Champions League fixtures now played at Meadow Park, this is yet another clear indication of the close relationship being built between one of England’s top elite clubs and ‘The Wood’ who play their football 5 leagues lower down the football pyramid..
Boreham Wood Football Club have been looking at ways to thank Arsenal and their supporters in some small way. As such we have come up with an initiative whereby all Arsenal Season Ticket holders can gain entry to all our home Vanarama Conference South league games for half price and we will continue to look at ways of encouraging Arsenal supporters to make Boreham Wood Football Club, its non league team of choice.
Boreham Wood manager and ex Gunner Ian Allinson said “As always Arsenal show their class by honouring us on ‘Non League Day’ and remembering the smaller club. This is another fantastic gesture from Arsenal and Ellisons to our football club and it again makes ‘Non League Day’ something special for us. Gosport is a tough place for us to go at the best of times and as we’ve never got a result there, this will ensure we have no excuses for not returning with a positive result”.. He concluded.
