Ahead of the highly anticipated FA Cup Second Round tie against Coventry, Barnet and Southgate College have already filled a coach for the journey.

It is another wonderful reminder of the very close partnership, and relationship, that has been formed over the years between Boreham Wood Football Club and Barnet and Southgate College.

Despite the tie only being announced last week, the College Student/Academy boys, and the College Teaching Staff, have already filled a 52-seater coach.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said: “How great is that for the college to even want to send a coach of academy students up to Coventry, to support Luke and the lads.

“But, it doesn’t surprise me in the least, especially when you have like-minded collaborators in the College, like Principle David Byrne, and their head of external partnerships, Tracey McKintosh.”

The Chairman went on to explain, why he feels that the college have made such a magnificent gesture: “When you have a history with our club like they have; when you have built such a supportive infrastructure, as we all have; when you have a truly great group of tutors, who go the extra mile for their students; and when you have an academy base like we have, that’s so united; it can only make our big cup day out an absolute must for the academy boys and tutors. Trust me, the players and management will know that the lads they coach will be travelling in their numbers on the day and I think we’ll respond when we see the extra support were taking.

“If we can now sell our requested 500 ticket allocation, then I believe a cup upset on a Sunday afternoon is all the more possible. But, what makes it all the more important to me, is that it will bond every facet of our town, club and academy from top to bottom.

“So, I must thank David, Tracey, the college, the tutors and the academy boys, for their efforts and support. While reminding everyone we are a small club, going up there in our numbers and we’ll be ready to do our town and our supporters proud. We have perhaps already exceeded my expectations, by having four coaches already sold out, with there’s still three weeks to the game, so if we can, let’s sell a few more.

“If we can take more than 500 to the Ricoh Arena, it will take the team to another level. Our club already knows we’re going there to represent our town, to represent our league, and to represent our families. And, trust me, we are going there to cause a great big cup upset, that will give everyone a day to remember and a night never to forget.”
