After scooping the National games ‘young player of the year’ award. Our top goal scorer In 2014/15 Lee Angol, gave an interview at the awards ceremony explaining his journey over the last 12 months..

He explains how he fell out of love with the game just 12 months ago after being released from Wycombe Wanderers. How he thought his footballing career was over but how our Chairman Danny Hunter and Manager Ian Allinson thought otherwise and convinced him to rebuild his career with us..

imageIn short our Chairman spoke to Lee, then John Still and Terry Harris at Luton Town. A deal was then struck for Luton to sign Lee and then loan him straight back to us. Our Chairman, John Still and Terry Harris all agreed that Lee needed a season of competitive football under his belt, a bit of TLC and a platform above development games to perform and regain his love for the game.

BWFC are rightly proud of the role that we’ve played in improving this eloquent and talented young man. We believe he is a great role model for other young players, to keep going when things are not going great for them personally and to look further than just drifting along in the uncompetitive world of U/21 football at pro level..

As a club we are always on the look out for the next young Lee Angol or Pelly Ruddock and we know how to dust them down and help to rebuild their careers.

However before then, on behalf of everyone at our club. Can we congratulate Lee on his many achievements this season, not least of all in hugely contributing to our promotion campaign. We sincerely hope this is just the start of a very long, happy and glorious career and if he needs an extra year in the National league to develop further, he knows where we are..

GOOD LUCK LEE
