BEN HERD SIGNING

Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced defender Ben Herd.

Ben began his footballing career back in 2003 when he signed his first professional deal with Watford after coming through the Academy ranks. After spending two years with Watford, Herd left without making a first team appearance.

He made his name though at Shrewsbury Town. Ben Signed for the Shrews in June 2005 and went on to make over 140 appearances in four seasons, which also included an appearance at Wembley in the League Two Play Off Final which they unfortunately lost 3-1.

Following his release from Shrewsbury his signature was much sort after but Herd eventually opted to sign a Two year contract with then League Two side Aldershot Town.  In his four years at Aldershot he clocked up over 150 games and won both Player of the Season and the Players Player of the Season.

He was released at the end of the 2012/13 season following the clubs financial troubles.

In 2014 Herd join ambitious Dunstable Town, where he was made Club Captain.

On Ben’s arrival at Meadow Park Wood manager Ian Allinson Said” I’m very happy to have Ben on board and he goes straight into the squad for tomorrow. I needed a little bit of experience down the sides and with Ben Nunn arriving back on Tuesday, it’s good to have strength in these key areas.
