Ben Goodliffe1

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that our young defender Ben Goodliffe has signed his first contract with the club.

Ben has spent the last year playing and training in our highly successful PASE Academy and has impressed gaffer Luke Garrard enough throughout this pre season for him to offer him a one year contract.

Goodliffe was part of the Tottenham Hotspur Academy at a young age before being released. Though he has only turned 17 a few weeks ago, Bens performances at the heart of our under 18’s and reserve’s defence last season, obviously caught the gaffers eye and it has given Ben the opportunity to shine this pre season.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “On behalf of the whole club, we would like to congratulate Ben on his achievement and hope it shows the other academy boys what can be achieved with good coaching, a good footballing structure and the correct attitude, discipline and desire.

Wood gaffer Luke Garrard said “This is just reward for Ben’s hard work and improvement since he’s been with us. He’s very young but has been very mature throughout our pre season campaign and this is very much a development year for him. I’ll be looking for him to show me the right leadership qualities within his own age group and I’ll expect him to excel at reserve level. Ultimately though if he continues to develop he can expect to be involved with the first team at times.”
