Boreham Wood Football Club Chairman Danny Hunter has issued a rallying cry, and even asked for some assistance from the local community, to come down and support their local football team.
Just last month, the Wood chairman announced his plans to perhaps build a new North Stand Covered Terrace for home supporters and went further by submitting a stunning planning application.
The club’s long-serving Chairman has though expressed a view that crowds do need to increase, for these plans to go ahead. Hunter has called on the locals and the loyal Wood Army to mobilise and where possible, bring their friends and families along to Wood’s remaining league games. With the aim of achieving an average crowd of over 700, for the rest of the season, and cheering the team on to the play offs.
The Chairman has stated that unless this figure is achieved, then any plans he might have for the new North Terrace could be put on hold, or possibly even scrapped. 
With the Wood having reached the Second round of the FA Cup, with them currently sitting eighth in the National league, with them battling through to the last 32 of the FA Trophy, and with them competing for a place in the National League playoffs…Now really is the time to get down to Meadow Park and really show that you support your local football club.
The whole of the town and the surrounding areas visibly rallied around the club, during their FA Cup campaign this season, with the match against Blackpool attended by over 1,100 people and the Coventry game by nearly 3,000, including a 700-strong travelling Wood Army.
With the club’s stature and reputation ever-improving in non-league circles and with the Chairman’s clearly laid out future ambitions, it’s now time to call on the community to recreate a Cup atmosphere at Meadow Park on a regular basis.
Hunter said: “Look, it’s very simple, we have I feel invested year-on-year and created something quite special here. We’ve built a strong and ambitious club and improved the facility from the bottom up. The whole set up, is a mile away from the club that I inherited and we are now sitting and competing at the top table of non-league football, by playing in the National League, after three promotions in ten years or so
“It has perhaps taken a while for me, my staff and the people around me to actually realise what we’ve built. With what’s now being played out under our very noses, but the truth is, we are perhaps foolishly ambitious enough to think we can one day deliver League football to our town.
“As such, it’s time to simply remind everyone, that we have to be a well-run club, as we are by far and away the lowest supported club in our division. Yet, we still find a way to produce hugely discounted season tickets for Adults, for OAP’s, for teenagers and for kids, but we desperately need more people to take up our offers.
“We believe we are doing our bit, by going out into the community and really supporting local schools where we can. We aid clubs like Brookside when possible, and we deliver all year-round coaching for kids at the club. On top of that, we are totally inclusive and ensure that we support as many of the local good causes, like men-cap and other charities, as we can.
“But, we now need a local show of support no matter how small. Anything that can indicate to me and my staff, that our town, the locals and the Wood Army, really do want a covered home end and want League football one day. As such, I’m asking for our crowd average to stay over 700 for the remainder of our league games this season, and I believe that’s possible.
“Our season to date average crowd sits at just 718, and is the lowest in our division. So, it’s now time to see if the town, really does want a league club and serious investment in its infrastructure, or if everyone is content to remain just as we are – which I do have to say, is still pretty damn good.
“Anyway, we have a big ex-league club in Torquay United arriving at Meadow Park tomorrow, so I’ll be interested to see if we get even a half decent crowd?” He concluded.
