Sutton United Reserves 0 – 3 Boreham Wood Reserves
Saturday 7th January 2012 – Suburban Premier Reserve League

Boreham Wood’s youthful reserve side travelled to Surrey on Saturday to play Sutton United in the Suburban Premier Reserve League.

For many it was their first game back after the Christmas period and it took ‘Wood’ half an hour to get back into their stride and to start playing their passing football.

The dead lock was broken after 35 minutes when a pin point ball from Mario Noto found ‘Wood’ striker Simeon Akinola, who cooly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the back of the net. ‘Wood’ continued their pressure but Sutton remained resilient and the half time score line was 1-0 to Boreham Wood.

‘Wood’ started the second half in the fashion they ended the first and the attacking flare of Simeon Akinola, Harvey Scott-Morris, Chet Johnson and Callum Martin linked up well but were unable to find a second. It was a late Charlie Hunter double that put the game out of sight, with two very good finishes.

‘Wood’s’ Reserves are currently on a four game unbeaten run, having won 3 and drew 1 from their last four games.

‘Wood’ line up: Jordan, Doolan, Yala, Beckles, Brathwaite, Johnson, Hunter, Noto(McCann), Martin(Roles), Scott-Morris(Hastings), Akinola.

Goal scorers: Akinola (1), Hunter (2).
