Team News

This will be Boreham Wood’s fourth fixture of pre-season, with under two weeks remaining untill the start of the National League season.

New signings Connor Smith, Brad Ash, Manny Parry, Femi Ilesanmi and Jamal Fyfield have all enjoyed plenty of minutes over pre-season and will be hoping to nail down a place in Luke Garrard’s starting eleven.

Form Guide

The Wood have won two and lost two of their opening pre-season matches so far, with victories over both Hitchin Town and Barnstaple Town.

Meanwhile, ties against League Opposition Brentford and Premier League heavyweights Arsenal proved different entities.

Despite taking the lead against Championship Brentford, the Wood’s strong defence were unable to keep them at bay and hold on to the lead.

And, the challenge of one of Europe’s best teams, under the new management of Unai Emery, was as difficult as anticipated.

Led by star names such as Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mikhtaryan, Aaron Ramsey, Alexander Lacazette and Sokratis, they were a class act.

Slough Town won promotion into the National League South following a 2-1 win over Kings Lynn in the Southern Premier Division Promotion Final.

Managed by Neil Baker and Jon Underwood, The Rebels finished third in the table, and reached the final with a 3-1 win over Kettering Town.

One to Watch – Sam Togwell

An experienced head in the middle of the park, Sam Togwell is known for spells in the Football League, most notably, with Scunthorpe United, where he made over 150 appearances.

Togwell was a part of The Iron’s promotion into the Championship, where he played a key role in their survival.

Having also played for Barnsley and Chesterfield, Togwell dropped into the Conference with Barnet, where he would again win promotion.

A tough-tackling and hard-working central midfielder, Togwell adds experience to the Slough midfield and could prove key in their survival in the National League South.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“We played Barnstaple on Thursday evening and we had a lot of the ball, as we would expect to, although I don’t think that we utilised it as well as we maybe should have done in the first half.

“I felt that Sorba Thomas’ introduction was frightening, he got us on the front foot and pinned people down and we were a threat on the ball moving forward in the second half.

“Tuesday evening; Slough are a tough side. They have played the likes of Kingstonian and I believe that they are going to have a say in the National League South this year.

“They have got a great management team and a great facility. I know a couple of their players personally and I feel that come Tuesday evening, it is going to be a great test for us.

“We need that now, you look at Slough and AFC Wimbledon – who are coming to Meadow Park – and I think that they are the two matches in which we will really start to gauge where we are at as a football team.”
