MATCH PREVIEW: EBBSFLEET UNITED

25 January 2018

The Wood are on their travels again this Saturday, January 27 (3pm) when they face Ebbsfleet United. Here’s our preview……..

Team News

The Wood have no fresh injury concerns going into the fixture.

David Stephens scored on his return to the line-up against Dover Athletic and will be hoping to retain his place.

Recent loan signing Ollie Harfield didn’t feature against Dover, but will be fighting to make his debut on Saturday.

Form Guide

The Wood lost last time out against Dover, but remain on an impressive run, with just two losses since September

That was despite goals from David Stephens and January signing Alex Davey.

Coincidentally, the run began following a 1-0 loss to Ebbsfleet and Luke Garrard’s side will be keen to make amends.

The Wood currently sit just one point outside of the National League playoffs, with 47 points.

Ebbsfleet United meanwhile are in 11th place in the table, with a total of 43 points.

Managed by 34-year-old Daryl McMahon, Ebbsfleet drew last time out in the league, earning a 0-0 draw away to Aldershot Town.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“It is going to be a tough tie because I believe that they have picked up a couple of good results in their last two games. They have beaten Maidstone and drawn with Aldershot on Saturday.

“They possess great quality throughout the ranks and I know Macca and I know what his teams are about.

“Hopefully we can get the win at their place, but like I have said before, it is about what we do and we have had a positive week in terms of training.

“They play a system where they get the likes of Jack Powell, Luke Coulson and Jack Payne, all in areas where they can go and exploit the opposition. And, I feel that they have got a powerhouse in terms of Danny Kedwell.

“The likes of Dave Winfield are coming back, who is their skipper now and he will bring a presence and an organisation to them that they probably didn’t have when we played them here in the first tie.

“We are looking to start a new run and we are hopeful that we can do that against Ebbsfleet on Saturday.”
