MATCH PREVIEW: CONCORD RANGERS VS BOREHAM WOOD

19 March 2014

A tough week and a tough trip to this Season’s success side in the Skrill South as both sides cram in three games in seven days to play catch up on the sodden winter.

This will be our first ever trip to The Aspect Arena, though we have passed it many times en route to Canvey Island who now amazingly play second fiddle to the side who have risen through the ranks in some style. Just six seasons ago Concord were winning the Essex Senior League before rising swiftly through the Ryman League set up.

This Tuesday they recorded an injury time win against Bishops Stortford, a result that may have a significant impact on the top of the table. Prior to the game there were two names on the lips of tipsters for an outside chance of a play off position, Stortford and Havant And Waterlooville. Yet a glance at the table sees Concord move above Stortford and level with Havant, just six points behind fifth placed Dover with the luxury of two games in hand.

To continue their march they will need to overcome us however! We are seeking revenge for a 2-0 reverse at home earlier this season in a tie that was ridiculously originally scheduled for Boxing Day. We travel with a decent away record having won two of our last three on the road, yet face a team joint second in the current form guide table. A team that has beaten both Eastleigh and Bromley this year to date who will prove very tough opposition.

However we are a match for any side on our day, so why not make the trip and cheer the lads on to victory?

Thursday March 20th, kick off 7.45pm.

The Aspect Arena, Thames Road, Canvey Island. SS8 0HH
