MATCH PREVIEW: BOREHAM WOOD VS EASTBOURNE BOROUGH & WHITEHAWK

7 April 2014

The Wood have three Home league games left of the season, of which two come in the space of four days. On Wednesday we welcome Play Off chasing Eastbourne Borough to Meadow Park, followed four days later by relegation threatened Whitehawk.

Eastbourne to date have had an excellent season led by Tommy Widdrington and will be looking to push towards getting that last play-off spot. However their form will have to pick up in the closing stages of the season if they are to get that elusive 5th spot.

Their away form of late has seen them only win one of their last five matches, although on their day Eastbourne are a match for any side in this league.

Earlier in the season the Wood were beaten at Eastbourne by a solitary goal thanks to a terrific strike by Darren Lok.

Four days after playing a side chasing for the play offs we take on Whitehawk who are looking to avoid dropping back into the Ryman League.

Whitehawk recently named Steve King as their new manager who has made a number of changes to the playing personnel at the enclosed ground.

Whitehawk currently sit just one place outside the relegation zone on 38 points from 37 games although both Chelmsford and Tonbridge who are also on 38 points have two games in hand. Their away from has seen them lose their last three and win just once in five. That will need to improve if they are to visit Meadow Park next season.

We visited the enclosed ground back on a cold and very wet December afternoon, thankfully with all three points courtesy of two goals from Anthony Jeffrey, who has since signed professional terms with Wycombe Wanderers.

Ian Allinson should have a fully fit squad to choose from and with the form his side are currently in will be looking to add another 6 points to the league table come 5pm Saturday evening.

With only three Home games left and Wood playing their most attacking football of the season get down to Meadow Park and show your support for the lads.
