Following on from a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Tonbridge Angels Reserves over the bank holiday weekend, ‘Wood’s’ Reserves look to pile on the pressure on frontrunners Welling United who sit 5 points ahead but have played 2 games more with a home double this week.
‘Wood’ host Royston Town on Thursday night at Meadow Park under lights, 7.30pm K/O.
Royston currently sit 2nd in the Reserve League and circumstances indicate an exciting top-of-the-table class with all to play for for both sides. Admission prices are set at £4 for adults and £2 for Under 16’s/OAP’s, whilst season ticket holders get half price entry.
The youngsters then host Uxbridge on Saturday at Meadow Park, 3pm K/O. ‘Wood’ will be looking to replicate the performance which saw them enjoy a 5-1 victory at Uxbridge back in November to again maintain the pressure on the League leaders.
Reserve Team Manager Cameron Mawer said “It is a huge end to the season for the boys. The effort and hard work they have put in earlier in the season has put them in a great position to push on.
“Don’t get me wrong, it is a tall order to win our games in hand and put ourselves amongst the League leaders, and having played Welling United Twice, Royston and Met Police in the Cup already, they are all very good sides and all have a chance to win it. So we must be relentless in our efforts to catch them, but I have all the faith that we have the ability and desire in our changing room to do so.”
Mawer concluded “This is all part of the boys footballing education. To win League and Cup titles as you get older becomes harder and harder. If the boys can continue to put performances and results together in this situation, it will leave them in good stead in future years to come when they are in other pressurised situations with promotion or relegation on the line. I’m excited for the run in and hopefully come May we would have pulled a remarkable achievement, becoming the 1st Boreham Wood Reserve side to win the Suburban Premier Division.”
