Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the signing of Donovan Simmonds from Dover Athletic.

Equally comfortable as a centre forward or winger, Donovan’s attributes include pace and creativity.

The former Charlton Athletic striker signed for Coventry City as a 17 year-old, spending nearly two years in the Sky Blues youth set-up.

Loan spells at Gillingham and Kilmarnock gave Donovan a taste of professional first team football. He then left Coventry for a short spell in Malta, before he returned to Scotland where he played 14 matches for Greenock Morton.

In the summer of 2010 a successful trial at Rushden & Diamonds lead to a contract. With opportunities limited at Nene Park though, Simmonds signed for Blue Square Bet North side Nuneaton Town in September 2010.

A move to the south of England meant that Donovan became available and Martin Hayes wasted no time in signing the talented forward.

However after a season at Dover, Donovan has decided his future lay somewhere else and Boreham Wood are delighted to capture the signing of the 23 year old front man. Everyone at Boreham Wood welcomes Donovan to Meadow Park and hope his stay with us is a long and successful one.
