WATFORD FRIENDLY

By John Mead

Watford Football Club descend upon Meadow Park this Thursday evening bringing their full First Team Squad. It will give Golden Boys fans the first opportunity to see their stars in action locally.

There will be much interest given that six new signing’s have been made during the close season.

Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes joins after six years on Tottenham Hotspur’s books. In defence Craig Cathcart joins from Blackpool, whilst the midfield has been strengthened with the capture of Daniel Tozser from Parma.

Juan Carlos Paredes also joins after playing all three of Ecuador’s World cup matches last month!

Attacking options include winger Lloyd Dyer who joins from Leicester City and last but not least the welcome return of  top scorer from the 2012-13 season Matej Vydra, a signing that all Watford fans have welcomed with open arms.

The Golden Boys returned from an Austrian training camp unbeaten in three matches, including a notable 0-0 draw with Rubin Kazan, who finished ninth in the Russian Premier League last season.

That was followed up with a 2-2 at Shrewsbury Town, meaning football is really coming “home” for Watford fans this Thursday !

The following night we welcome Reading FC, who were originally sending their Academy side as part of the two year partnership with our own Academy. However Reading Academy Manager Eamon Dolan will be sending a squad of players all involved in the First Team training camp, as he explained,

“ It’s not just a great game for the players but a good opportunity for the fans to come and look at the young squad that the Gaffer is building” .
