Boreham Wood Football Club are pleased to announce the permanent signing of Blair Turgott, from Stevenage.

Having been on-loan at Boreham Wood since September, Turgott has impressed enough for Luke Garrard to recruit him on a permanent basis.

Turgott’s name will already go down in the history books of Boreham Wood Football Club, having scored the equaliser in the famous FA Cup 2-1 comeback victory over Blackpool.

Upon signing, the 23-year-old told the official club website: “I am happy to get it over the line.

“There was a lot of conversation between the two teams when I did initially come back off loan, but I am just thankful and grateful that I am back and I want to keep the ball rolling.

“When I came back off loan, I spoke with Stevenage to find out their plans for me going forward, and I spoke to the Manager here Luke Garrard, and he said that if he could keep me permanently, then he wanted to.”

Turgott began his career as a youth player in the famed West Ham academy and would go on to make his debut in January 2014, against Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old has represented England up to Under 19 level and was a permanent feature of the Under 17s squad, with 14 appearances.

The forward helped the U17s to top their group in the FIFA U17 World Cup, with a vital goal against Canada.

On his time at Meadow Park so far, Turgott elated: “It has been very good for me, as I was at a place in my career where I needed to play football.

“Initially coming in and speaking to the manager and how he wanted the team to play and just everything about the club, it was good for me.

“Just to come here and show what I am about and help the team, I hope that I have played my part and hopefully there are many more happy memories to come.”
