Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce that Matt Paine, has decided to extend his stay at Meadow Park for another season. That good news, follows the signings of Bruno Andrade, Mark Ricketts, Ricky Shakes, Danny Woodard, Grant Smith and David Stephens until the summer of 2018.
Matt has been an intrinsic part of our defensive unit, that currently boasts the 2nd best goals against record in the National league which we hope can continue.
As well as on the pitch, Matt is hugely influential off it as an Academy coach, passing on his footballing experience and knowledge to our Academy boys within the PASE Scheme.
With other announcements likely to follow, the Chairman and Luke Garrard are quietly building yet another competitive squad for next season.
Wood Gaffer Luke Garrard was delighted to finally get the deal completed and said “I’m very happy that Matt has thrown his hat into the ring with us once again for next season. I only tend to operate with six specialist defenders and, no matter what personnel I put out, no matter what collective unit or formation I use, they pretty much deliver for me week in and week out. The theory of “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” does come to mind and that’s behind the early signings I’ve made defensively for next season.
