With The Wood battling hard for the National League play-offs, we have compiled an easy-to-follow guide to this season’s format.
Luke Garrard’s men are currently sat in fourth position, just four points off second placed Tranmere Rovers, with only two matches to go.
At the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, the National League rolled out a brand-new play-off format.
The promotion positions have been extended to seventh place, with the Champions automatically earning a spot in the Football League.
How it works:
The team finishing in seventh place, will travel to the team finishing in fourth place for a one-off match.
The side finishing in sixth place, will travel to the team who finished in fifth place, for a one-off match.
The winner of these two matches, will then play away to the sides who finish in second and third, in one-off matches.
This means that the teams who finish in second and third, will only have to win one home match to reach the final at Wembley.
While, the teams finishing in fourth and fifth, would have to win one home match and one away match.
Teams finishing in sixth and seventh, would have to win two away matches to the reach the final.
