Inspired by Alex Morgan, Boreham Wood’s under 18s came back from 2-1 down to beat a battling Leverstock Green outfit 2-4 away from home.

The young Wood opened the scoring in just the sixth minute, with Theo Costa nodding the ball down for Morgan, who latched onto it and slotted home.

However, the hosts equalised five minutes before half time. A mistake from the Wood defence was snaped up by the hosts, who charged forward and thrashed past Burbidge.

Less than five mintues later and Leverstock took the lead on the counter attack. They sent a low cross into the area and thumped home from close range.

The Wood were pushing hard for an equaliser in the second half but Leverstock were remaining firm.

However, a superb ball from Cheyce Grant was met by the leaping Morgan, who powered a header into the back of the net.

This was the catalyst for Cameron Mawer’s side to take the lead, with Morgan getting onto another quality delivery, this time from Charlie Wickham, and heading home for his hat-trick.

Morgan then netted his fourth of the match, with ten minutes remaining, when he swept a back heel past the Leverstock ‘keeper from inside the area.
