Boreham Wood Football Club are absolutely delighted to announce that our highly rated centre forward Morgan Ferrier has – even after being given permission to talk to a number of Football League clubs – decided after talks with both the Chairman and manager to turn down the chance to leave us and is in fact considering penning a new two-year deal.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said: “In truth, we’d perhaps geared ourselves up to losing Morgan – who I consider to be the best of his type in the league. So, to keep him and possibly extend his deal is a most unexpected, but fabulous bonus.

“I did in truth sit down with Morgs and Bruno Andrade after our civic parade a few weeks ago, as I sensed that Morgan wasn’t completely sure about where his future may lay. As such, I quietly advised him that if he wasn’t sure, to go with his instincts and to put both his personal and family’s interests and happiness first.

“The fact he has chosen to play his football with us again next season, will give the club, me, the manager, the dressing room and our fans such a massive lift. And I feel it will give us real belief that we can perhaps challenge for a play-off spot or better once again.

“The offers and enquiries we received for Morgan were numerous. They would in truth have broken our transfer record and the add ons offered were also very fair – but surprisingly, in today’s football world, it became apparent that for Morgan it wasn’t just about the money and that was always the case for me and this football club.

“I feel his decision was more about family, location, our relationship, the way we run our football club and about timing. As such, staying put gives Morgan some breathing space to effect his own personal progress and we all feel with his ability, his age, and the fact that he is still developing both as a player and as a man – that further opportunities will certainly come his way again in the future.

“So for now, let’s all settle things down, look forward with optimism to next season and look forward to adding some quality to our squad over the next few weeks and enjoy a productive pre-season programme that begins in 12 days’ time.”
