The Wood remain on their travels this Saturday, September 16 (3pm) when they face Maidenhead United. Here’s our preview……..

Team News

The Wood have no fresh injury concerns going into the fixture.

Angelo Balanta, Jamie Turley and Ricky Shakes all missed Tuesday’s win over Dover, and Luke Garrard says that he hopes to have at least two of them back for the match against Maidenhead.

Having scored the winner against Dover, Blair Turgott will be hoping to keep his place if the trio do return.

Form Guide

The Wood’s win against Dover propelled them back up the table into fourth place.

Dover had sat in first place prior to the fixture, and with victories over Aldershot Town and joint-top Leyton Orient, it is the third time this season that the Wood have knocked a side off the top-of-the-table.

Turgott’s goal against Dover made him the 11th different goal scorer for the Wood this campaign, meaning that 65% of the outfield squad have already hit the target this year.

Maidenhead currently sit 10th in the table, but are just four points behind League Leaders Sutton United.

Managed by Alan Devonshire, the side have won three of their last four matches, with an impressive victory over Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“I have watched them to death to be fair, the two latest ones obviously Tranmere on Tuesday and Halifax at the weekend and they are very honest, and very hardworking.

“Alan Devonshire has got them playing a certain way and they are getting joy from it. So, I can envisage a very tough test come Saturday.

“My main aim is another clean sheet, because I feel that there are goals in us, with what we create, if we keep a clean sheet then we can get something from the game.

“We believe that they have got some weaknesses, although I think that they have a lot of strengths, I have got to say.

“They’ve got endeavour and a togetherness and individually they’vegot a lot of quality, especially in Harry Pritchard and Sam Barratt.

“Defensively they are big and strong and they put bodies on the line, but I think there are little chinks in the armour that we are going to work on.

“But, I will say it again, and I know it is repetitive, but if we go about our business and if we implement our game plan, then I think that we will cause them problems. Hopefully, we can come away with three points on Saturday.”
